ADVOCACY

Ways we Advocate:

1. We establish advocacy agendas from which we perform advocacy work. This is applicable primarily to the state and federal level.
2. We rally others to support our advocacy agendas, teaching them how or giving them tools to contact their elected officials.
3. We write letters to elected officials and make them public.
4. We write letters to the editors.
5. We solicit media attention for events.
6. We meet with elected officials on various issues.
7. We read the news and use critical thinking to determine how to respond.
8. We work collaboratively with many other groups.
9. We are a member of many state-wide and national coalitions to end the war on drugs, improve the care of people who use drugs and to end mass incarceration.
