In November, Truth Pharm announced a new program for community members, after identifying a need for accessible and communal artmaking opportunities in the area. Our Community Art Hours are free, open to people of all ages and backgrounds, and can serve as a healing space, opportunity for portfolio building, or simply a comfortable place for a person to go and do something with their hands. They will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, from 3-6pm, and hosted by Community Arts Liaison Mia Hause. Unique projects will be provided from week to week, but participants are also welcomed to use the provided materials to work on projects of their own!

The inaugural event, hosted on November 29th, featured collage as the week’s primary project, followed by collagraphy, a simple printmaking process, on December 27th, with artists of varying experience and skill levels in attendance. To make a collagraph, participants cut out designs and shapes in foam and glued them to a cardboard backing, and applied acrylic paint to the surface in order to stamp the image onto paper, and make an unlimited number of prints. Each week, artists are welcomed to leave their work at our office to dry, and pick it up at the following event!

Join us on January 10th to make and paint clay pinch pots, and check out the images from previous sessions above to see some of the work that community members have made so far.

Community members can reach out to Mia Hause, miahause.truthpharm@gmail.com, for questions, and suggestions for future projects.
